The early detection of mesothelioma may provide new screening tests.

Exciting findings that may allow early detection and treatment of pancreatic cancer and mesothelioma were revealed in an American Association of cancer research meeting in Denver on 28. Somalogic, Inc, privately developed the new screening technology.

The technology is based on aptamers - bits of genetic material, the proteins stick. The study tested enterprise Explorer blood samples from patients with cancer both in the control groups that had conditions the you symptoms similar to these types of cancer such as pancreatitis or lung fibrosis.

According to Rachel Ostroff, Director of clinical research of Somalogic Inc., the team of biological markers that were to realize high-precision in any type of cancer found. Now the biomarker must be confirmed in other studies to ensure that the results were exactly and reliably in diagnostic tests can be reproduced. "It's very easy to discover biomarkers," Ostroff said the session. "It is very difficult to verify."
If these tests can provide early detection, it would be an exciting new weapon in detecting and treating mesothelioma kills an estimated 15,000 to 20,000 people worldwide every year.
