Asbestos concern when installing home insulation

Heating is the biggest complaint under house and apartment owners during the winter season. This is not surprising because most of the houses built contain little or even no insulation over 30 years ago. Material for sealing and weatherstripping window can help, but ultimately, insulating ceiling and walls is the best solution.

House renovations are a good time to new insulation Add. If the walls, electrical or plumbing systems to upgrade, install insulation before putting up new Sheetrock. Even if simple spot to do repairs is recommended insulation water pipes and electrical wiring.

Some home owners can worry about asbestos when you install new insulation, such as asbestos a carcinogen mineral that is often used in construction 30 years ago. Prolonged exposure to asbestos can cause that deadly diseases such as asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma, a rare cancer of the protective lining of the heart, lungs, chest and stomach.

Asbestos is an understandable concern for homeowners as a silent killer. Types of asbestos cancer can take decades to develop, and once you require surface aggressive treatment.

Mesothelioma treatment combined surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, but life expectancy for patients, expanded the rarely last 18 months.

However, current should be a law asbestos removal when dealing with insulation. "Asbestos not damage unless it is disturbed, take you unless it, you have to" advises Jason Selder of S & H renovation in Hoboken, New Jersey. "If people 'done an attic', we put in a layer of isolation and Sheetrock over it."

Selder recommends also pretty thick foam insulation, "Our foam is 3 / 8 continuous forms we use for each siding job."
